Sanath Light and Sound Show, the newest installation in Sarnath came alive amid the pandemic of 2020. A dream project that took more than 18 years to complete is finally putting up an epic show in front of the world.

As soon as the sun sets down the ancient Dhamek Stupa lights up to the visuals of Buddha’s life. The entire complex gets alive through the voice of legendary Amitabh Bachchan. Sarnath light and sound show starts around 6:30 PM and lasts for about 30 minutes.

The show starts with a small introduction of Varanasi and revolves around the life of Gautam Buddha and ends with an introduction of the Sarnath area.

Built at the cost of 7.88 crores, the show was free for a limited time however a ticket of 200 Indian rupees (250 for foreigners) is levied for entry now.

As per the official’s statement, this will not only boost the revenue but will also increase the footfall of tourists in the evening.









If you’re planning to watch the show then it is recommended to reach the destination at least 2-3 hours before the show timing. Currently, only 50 people are allowed every day on a first-come basis.
